Updated Rule Changes as of 1/14/2025

SCF Rabbit Exhibitors:

The Starr County Fair Livestock Committee, in conjunction with the SCF Rabbit Committee Chairperson, has made the following changes for the 2025 Rabbit Division to help alleviate the issue of locating rabbits for this year's show:

1). Physical rabbit validation has now been scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2025, to allow one extra week to locate rabbits.

2). The minimum weight of fryer rabbits has now been changed to 2.5 lbs. This will allow exhibitors to purchase those smaller rabbits that were probably bred for the Zapata, Laredo, and RGVLS shows. This will increase the chances of finding rabbits.

3). The deadline for rabbit registration has not changed. The validation registration deadline is still Friday, January 17th - Payment must be complete in the SCF store by this date, and your entry must be registered in ShoWorks by January 31st.

4). All other rabbit rules not discussed here will remain unchanged for this coming year's SCF. This includes the exhibition of only white Californian & New Zealand rabbit breeds.

Exhibitors, please remember to find rabbit showmanship study materials on your own from reliable resources like the Texas AgriLife Extension Office, American Rabbit Breeders Association, etc.
